Maggie.......my little toothless wonder |
Being a parent, I am asked to do a number of tasks that I don't particularly care to do. And I usually do them with no questions asked with varying degrees of none to a little whining..........depending on the day. One of my least favorite duties is "tooth puller". I am not a fan of this on any level. I'm one of those people who has to take a valium(that the dentist specifically prescribes for me) just to get my teeth cleaned. Natural childbirth with no pain meds? No problem!!! Small filling? It is very possible I could have an anxiety attack just thinking about it! So, let's just get this clear..........I, in no way, shape or form like being the "tooth puller" here at my house. You would think it would give me power...................well, it doesn't! No, it just means that I'm the pain inflictor. I have not only pulled most of my teeth, but now have pulled Bailey's, Ryley's and am just starting out with Maggie(who is proving to be my most difficult patient). Not only does she make me feel terrible for pulling her teeth, but insists on writing the tooth fairy notes asking for specific items. In the past she has requested roller skates, pictures of tooth fairies and fairy dust. Her latest request for a picture of the tooth fairy should have been fairly easy. But, since the tooth fairy usually only comes with money in hand in the middle of the night, sleepy from a long day of tooth collecting....................she was fresh out of pictures. Lucky for Mag, the tooth fairy loves writing notes. At first, this wasn't exactly comforting to Maggie. But now, she tends to look forward to those more than the money.

"I wish I had a picture of myself. Here's a little fairy dust for you to remember me by. Your teeth are perfect....Just like you!" |
